The third day of the conference was a visit to the historic site of the “Merowe Pyramids”, built around 4000 years ago, on the Eastern Bank of the Nile, at 200 km north of Khartoum. Although recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, yet they remain relatively unknown.
