Background
After successful implementation of phase-1 of the project on modelling of the T-A reservoirs system titled “river basin simulation of the Tekeze-Atbara river basin”. the same organizations; HRC-Sudan, EiWR-AAU and IHE Delft are now working on a follow up research (phase II) which focuses on designing options for institutional infrastructures that could lead to a more cooperative operation of the reservoir system in the T-A sub-basin. This phase of the project has been officially launched in April 2019 and extends up to June 2021. And it will be continued with support of resources persons from the region, who will provide guidance and facilitation for effective project implementation.
Goals
The ultimate goal is to maximize benefit from water resources of the T-A sub-basin, both at national level (Ethiopia, and Sudan), as well as at the sub-basin level.
Approach
This project will attempt to recommend appropriate designs of institutional infrastructure(s)that can support cooperative approaches of reservoir management in the sub-basin
Objectives
The main objective of this research project is to identify and recommend designs of (potential) institutional set-ups for regional cooperation for the operation of the T-A reservoir system, given the information on different operation scenarios prepared by the model of the first project.
