Implementation
In order to simulate Tekezze – Atbara basin to analyze different scenarios of reservoir operation strategies; it was agreed in the inception workshop which was held in Sudan in 22-23 May 2017 to use the Mike Hydro Basin software.
Mike Hydro Basin, is a zero-D software modelling package developed by the Danish Hydraulic Institute (DHI). It is designed to analyze water sharing issues at international, national or local basin level for a large variety of applications; including integrated water resources management studies, water allocation and shortage problems, reservoir and hydropower operation optimization, exploration of conjunctive use of groundwater and surface water, and irrigation scheme performance improvements (DHI, 2016).
